Camp cots! |
Seriously, I didn't boost the colour on this. |
Too hot to fish! |
Shower tent! :) |
The shower fixtures |
A big hit! |
Can't decide which shot I like best |
Elk hunter's float plane |
The only fish I caught. Be careful of what you ask for. <Grin> |
High winds threatened to blow down the tent. Packed up and left a day early. As we slept in a motel that night, it poured rain. Gotta love it when luck works out in your favour that way. |
The shots of the landscape & view on the lake are just surreal!!! magical- only in Canada. On a photography level, I really like #11 & #12 (where you can't decide which one you prefer), the reflections in the water are awesome of course, tell me there is NO POLLUTION there!! The campfire is a close #3 fave too. Now I hope this comment takes, see if my google account still exists.................. :)
ReplyDeleteYep, you're google account still exits. :) No pollution, and by the looks of the trees, no acid rain. We still used the water filter though, to screen out algae and fish poop.
ReplyDeleteThank's Annelies. :)
Hey you two , thanks for the pics. The lake pictures are quite exceptional. Why do you go out and spend good money on items like camp cots when your family /friends have gear that you can have or borrow??
ReplyDeleteScotty
Obviously, Scotty, because family and friends didn't mention having such that we could have or use. ... Maybe we'll have to get you to make up an inventory list that we can check before go shopping again....
ReplyDeleteHow about sleeping pads for ontop of the cots? (grin)
Thoroughly enjoyed this 'Back to Nature' trip, Dar. A spectacular set of photos showing off the scenery, reflections, and even Fitz hunting in vain for stray fish hooks :) It looks to be a damn near perfect neck of the woods to chill and soak up the change from routine living.
ReplyDeleteI can almost feel the atmosphere of you slipping across the water in near silence on that glassy-flat lake, with just the whisper of that double-bladed paddle, as you anticipated catching fish that (apart from that tiddler) obviously resisted your bait:)
Glad you enjoyed it. It was a damn near perfect neck of the woods too; at least most of the time it was; no stray hooks for Fizz to swallow this time; peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, and perfect weather, but for three nights in a row the elk hunters and their girl friends partied, and at two am one night the latter chose to practice their Xena yells for the hearing of every creature in the valley. At eight-o-five some fellow across the way would return home from building forestry roads and until eleven pm every night woud heat up his camper by running the most noisy generator I have ever heard. Even on Thanksgiving Day, when I thought for sure he'd have the day off to go visit his Mom for turkey dinner, ... About every second morning the gnawing sound of chainsaws would penetrate into the peace and quiet, as one of the other campers cut down that nights firewood.
DeleteAt times it was like we were camping in a parking lot, but after the hunters jumped into their pick-ups and onto their all-terrain vehicles and went off searching for elk and deer to kill, the remainder of the day was absolute blissful peace, and you could hear that double bladed paddle of mine whispering though the surface of that glassy- flat lake, just how you imagined it. :)
I particularly liked the picture of the monster fish and Fizz contemplating the log. After seeing the shower stall and the cots I think you will have to re-identify your trips as "glamping". :-)
ReplyDeleteGlamping it is, Anonymous! Thanks for the term; we'll never part with Shower tent. :)
DeleteWhat an idyllic place that you have beautifully captured beautifully on camera. I remember your Tabblo story relating Fizz's experience with a fish hook. I love the pictures that include him, remind me of my Westie I had many years ago.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing luxury camping :-) Beds, shower...what a treat. I've enjoyed your trip. The lake looks like an enchanted mirror. The landscape has a Scandinavian touch. Loved it.
ReplyDeletePrachtige natuur !! Wij in Nederland zijn jaloers, zoveel ruimte, mooie bossen en blauwe meren.
